What is up with radio??

I’ve been listening to the radio recently in my car more often than CD’s and have been noticing some trends that really confuse me…

On MyFM (I live in the Inland Empire, close to LA), they’ve been playing things like Leona Lewis’ “Bleeding Love” and Colplay’s “The Scientist.”  I think I get Lewis’ track, which is only 4 years or so old, but am confused as to why they’re playing a Coldplay song that’s like almost a decade old!

The X Factor is coming soon to a Fox network near you and so that’s why they’re playing “Bleeding Love.”  I get it, you want to tout your most famous winner… and yes, I dig the song.  The organ is super cool.  But what the heck is Coldplay doing?  And why “The Scientist?”  I mean, people must have liked a song other than that one.  Don’t get me wrong:  Again, good song, but why?  I’m sure other people dug “Fix You,” “Speed of Sound” (okay, maybe not) or even “Viva la Vida” more than “The Scientist.”

If Coldplay is trying to get back into people’s consciousness via this song to announce a new album, I’m afraid I don’t get it, but then again, I wrote this post.  Whatever.  Maybe it did work!  ENGLISH TRICKERY!  TALLY HO and all that GOV’NA!

Foo Fighters – Garage Tour

The Foo Fighters have been making good music for a while now and I guess they figured it was time to get back to roots or something like that.  At any rate, what’s cool is that with the help of Blackberry, Foo Fighters are playing garages now, which may seem like a step backward for them (or two or three) but it means that the fans have a chance to see the Foos rocking their very own garages!  I think this is a great thing for fans who want to get up close and personal with musicians who seem like they’d be cool to hang out with and hear some great music at the same time.  Dave Grohl and Co. apparently gave some guy in Toronto the chance to play with them, even.  My friend, the ultimate FF fan, is super jealous, apparently, and wants to be BFF’s with Taylor Hawkins, who is a beast on the drums.

Josh Rouse – El Turista

Hello All!  I have been listening to this album relentlessly!  Living in Spain has really given Josh a new dimension in his sound… not to mention a new language.  I’ve always been a huge fan of Josh’s since Nashville, but he keeps getting better.  Even the old song “Cotten-Eyed Joe” gave me a surprise when I first heard it.  If you have not heard of this man, I recommend getting on this immediately!
